I really don't know why people hate this game. Seriously. It perfects the classic formula and has a bunch of replay value.
The final bosses, while difficult, have an extreme amount of challenge that makes up for the lack of the lives system. If the difficulty doesn't come from limited lives, why not make the bosses more challenging to make up for it? I found every boss very fun and unique, and I highly appreciated the challenge! Give us more difficult bosses Sonic Team! Or at least a hard mode for other games like Generations or Colors.
