good game, but unfortunately bad performance and stability issues on modern PCs

Putting the bugs, crashes, and the fact you need a NASA supercomputer to run this aside, ARK itself is very enjoyable and has had me returning every once in a while for years. However I couldn't recommend this particular remaster which should never have existed if they cared to fix and update the original. Let alone charge full price again, and then add extra paid content actually into the game but block you from it unless you buy said content. This dev team have reliably kept making the worst choices they can on what to do with their game

Graphics are amazing, looks insane at night. Missions and races are fun enough.

Cops couldn't catch up to a Model T. Cutscenes are cringe. "Connecting to EA servers" is painful.

One of my favourite games of all time. I have another few hundred hours in it elsewhere too. It's not a perfect game by any means, and the developers have certainly made some controversial decisions, but I still come back to the game every few months and enjoy all my time spent in it. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's definitely mine.

Advice: Don't bother buying the DLC now, as they will be charging for the remastered game again. The DLC will then be released over time for free with that purchase (But knowing Studio Wildcard, that plan will probably change a few more times yet).

I was expecting a mostly jungle map, but was pleasantly surprised at the diversity of biomes. And this map is huge! It's worth going in blind and exploring if you haven't already
