After it's installed, go back to your game setup screen and select 'Mod Settings'

Community Crunch 499: Threading the Needle: The Araneo Zips Back In!

You voted, you donated, and now it begins. Thanks to the incredible support shown during our Extra Life charity event, the first Extra Life TLC creature is almost ready to descend from its shadowy lair.

The Araneo is evolving into something far more dangerous. No longer content to skitter at ground level, these overgrown spiders have begun claiming the high ground, using web-lines to traverse elevated terrain and drop down on unsuspecting prey with unnerving precision.

We can’t wait to share more on what’s in store—but for now, just know that your impact is crawling its way into the ARK.

Lately I’ve noticed a kind of breakthrough evolution in the local population of Araneomorphus. Broodmother's ‘children’ have suddenly exploded in number, and they've also begun using their amazing amalgam of arachnidial abilities in alarming new ways.

These overgrown spiders have begun traversing high areas with their web-lines, and rappelling down them to ambush prey. They also shoot their webbing with a newly ruthless precision--a disorienting innovation that restricts their prey's ability to move, attack, and protect itself. Struck enough times, an entangled victim is as good as helpless.

Though the Araneo was once considered too small to be a serviceable mount, newer compact saddle designs have turned around opinion. Its narcotic venom turns out to be useful for tranquilizing potential tames. One popular tactic is to drop from above and wrap up a target creature in webbing before subduing them with a venomous bite.

Even if a taming attempt fails, your spider-mount can harvest the hardened silk from a downed target for a variety of uses. Araneo silk is an excellent insulator in warm-weather clothing, for example.

Community Crunch 498: Introducing Acrocanthosaurus from ARK: Additions!

We’re thrilled to welcome yet another long-awaited creature from Garuga123’s ARK: Additions into the official world of ARK: Survival Ascended. These incredible creatures continue to bring fresh gameplay, new challenges, and some seriously epic tames to the ARK.

The [color=#f39c12]Acrocanthosaurus[/color] is stomping onto the scene as a brutal frontline powerhouse. Built for the thick of battle, this massive carnivore truly shines when the fight turns against it. The longer the fight goes, the more fearsome it becomes, turning injuries into momentum and refusing to back down when others might fall.

But it is not just a savage attacker. The Acrocanthosaurus has a defensive edge that makes it especially formidable in a survivor’s hands, able to hold the line, draw attention, and weather the chaos head-on.
Whether charging into danger or standing firm against it, this creature will command the battlefield by sheer presence alone on [color=#f39c12]March 31[/color].

Here’s a first glimpse of the upcoming ocean systems currently being tested inside the Genesis Part 1 biome. While the ship assets shown here are temporarily borrowed from ATLAS for early functional testing, the final release will feature brand-new ships built specifically for ARK: Survival Ascended.

The real focus of this test, however, is the new water physics system built from the ground up for Genesis Part 1. Waves, buoyancy, and ship movement are all being actively developed and tested as we shape the foundations of large-scale maritime gameplay within Genesis’s ocean environments.

These systems will ultimately support a full maritime experience across a map-wide ocean biome, where real water physics, customizable ships, semi-procedural islands and fortresses to discover, and large-scale naval battles across the high seas will define life on the water.

Want to build your own ARK world without learning the Dev Kit? With the in-game ASA World Creator, players on any platform, including consoles, can design their own maps directly within ARK and share them with others via the Mod Browser.

While creators won’t be able to make new art assets or perform the deep construction associated with the full Dev Kit, the system provides powerful tools for building playable worlds. Creators will be able to place and modify actors, create reusable templates, edit their properties, adjust overall world settings, configure volumes and spawners, add mods and skin packs, and implement simple gameplay logic through a brand new scripting layer that combines Lua scripting with a Blueprint API.

Everything shown in the screenshot is part of the in-game interface, including the full GUI and property editing tools!

Creature Spawn Question from a Noob

Haven't bought the game yet, still researching and very interested! My question is, in single player, how do creature spawns work? For example if I locate a level 100 creature as a noob, too weak/low level to tame it, is it possible to find the very same creature say a week later? Just in single player....

Ark asks for 153 gigabytes of free space to download a 1.5 gig update

I just don't have that much space and this is insanely absurd. Reinstalling the game helps, but waiting for 2 hours every 3 days to play ark is awful I've tried deleting files in "Program Files (x86) > Steam > Steamapps > Downloading", it didn't work. How do I fix this?...

Wow, Idk what to say.
I was really excited for all the gameplay changes since ASE and yes, baby dinosaurs are cute. But this game runs like ♥♥♥♥.
It's interesting that lowering the settings doesn't make the game run any smoother.
My first hour in this game, I am just adjusting settings and I am not any closer to a smooth gameplay experience.
Frustrating.

You work and grind to get stuff and creatures and the game just puts them under the map and removing them for no reason and the devs wont fix the bugs but just make more dlc's to to get more bugs
