A solid single player fps game. recommended.

pros -

graphics are a plus - the game looks beautiful - the different seasons are very well depicted.
the atmosphere of the entire game - metro series has always been about the atmosphere. the post apocalyptic vibe is still strong and the general setting throughout the open world right down to the dark underground sections is done nicely.
weaponry is nice - on the fly customization of scopes / barrels is a nice touch.but some attachments are underwhelming and have little use.
suit upgrades are quite cool - but being unable to equip them all is a little disappointing - making all but the best ones pointless.
story can be considered a plus because its better than your average fps game.
the compass / clipboard map / gas mask / lighter are all parts of the overall metro experience and have been implemented well.

cons -

game's optimization is not great despite being in development for so long. maybe they were too busy with figuring out ray tracing.
auto saving functionality is quite bad - having only a single save slot - and the save timings can be terrible.
open world sections are quite bland - couldve had more side quests and more meaningful npc interactions on the open world levels. as a big fan of exploration in open world sections - i was underwhelmed after completely exploring the open world areas in the game.

overall definitely recommended for fps fans and certainly for fans of the old metro games.
