As much as I like the gameplay, the economy (despite the recent updates) has not really improved to where it needs to be for me to be able to recommend this game.

Silver Lions (the primary in-game currency) is still low enough that some vehicles can't even break even with a 1.0KDR, which is (in my opinion) insane! As it is, this game is barely qualifying as "Free 2 Play", and is very much riding the line of "Pay 2 Play", especially with how close to requiring a "premium subscription" you get in order to be able to buy crew and upgrades, or even new vehicles.

This situation has improved somewhat since the roadmap's first 2 updates were implemented, but considering that those changes needed AT WORST a couple days to implement, the company's decision to wait months to fix this makes it seem like they are either incompetent, or deliberately being as anti-player as they can get away with.

Also, their BR system is horrible, partly because they keep refusing to expand it to prevent massive mismatches in player capability, partly because really good players skew the metrics that Gaijin uses to determine the BR of vehicles, and partly because their matchmaker tends to send lower BR vehicles (that perform well at their BR) into matches against stuff that's a full BR higher more often than not.

Just be aware that this game is great, but the economy of the game is one of the worst, most anti-consumer game economies I've ever even heard of, even among other "Free 2 Play" games. (not counting mobile games of course)

November 2023 update:
As the game is designed right now, there is still an extremely sharp decline in Silver Lion rewards compared to repair costs when you get around the BR5.0 mark. Part of this is caused by an increase in the number of experienced players at these BRs, but the vast majority is because the rewards for everything do not scale at the same rate as costs. This means that you tend to net more Silver Lions at BRs below this mark than you do above it, over the same amount of time played. I can only assume this is to try and force you to buy premium, as premium time/vehicles are effectively required to break even in losses. (unless you're the best player in the match by a massive margin)

March 2024 Update:
Not much has changed since my last update, apart from Gaijin's now very obvious anti-USA bias. They increased the BR of a USA tank that was already struggling at a LOWER BR, and have recently introduced significantly underperforming USA top-tier tanks, while also introducing massively overperforming Russian tanks. Many people will point to win rates for countries to counter this, but that is disingenuous, as match win rate has little to do with the individual vehicles, and a LOT to do with the players and their teamwork.

December 2024 update:
Report system moderators ignore multiple independent sources for information using the worst reasoning possible, then lock the report so you can't respond at all. They don't want to hear anything from anyone about the balance of their game, the realism of their game, or the bugs of their game. They only want you to give them $70-$1800 for a copypasta of existing assets with slightly different colors. They don't even want you to play the game, and will treat you like the little piggy bank they think you are.

September 2025 update:
They literally just made blowout panels pointless on NATO tanks, because for some reason they think ammo detonations should always kill all crew even if the vehicle has blowout panels. (again, only for NATO tanks)

November 2025 update:
The guy in charge of game development literally just said they 100% know about all the major problems with the game, and are refusing to even consider fixing them unless everyone stops playing the game. They also literally say the ground playerbase is too stupid to be able to do any game mode beyond what is already in the game, so they will never implement new game modes for it. DO NOT EVER PAY A SINGLE CENT TO THIS COMPANY!!!

December 2025 Update:
The M1A2T is in the dev server for China. They have already pulled the VT4 from Japan, but are leaving this. If this goes through to the live server, I will never play this game again.

Later December 2025 Update:
I have now uninstalled the game. They put the M1A2T in the Chinese tech tree. This company doesn't care about realism, they don't care about fixing issues, they don't care about anything the players care about. If you have the choice, don't sell your soul to these greedy a-holes.

FPS version of Project Zomboid, with a less finnicky UI. Made by just 2 people, and they do regular progress updates while also listening and communicating with the players.

No tutorial. (it kinda doesn't need it though, most controls and mechanics are self explanatory or obvious, as long as you take the time to read)
