Bone shards pierce the veil that covers your face.

As I climb the rocky leftovers of a once great city
I think about what used to be:
A metropolis, built to last forever by ephemeral beings.
Humans.
Fragile, emotional and ignorant humans.
In the greater picture, the great metropolis wasn’t what we envisioned it to be,
It was but an ants nest in the eyes of war, the man made beast.
When it broke free from the flimsy chains, mankind was already over.
Its fire tongue licking across the globe,
Cleansing everything faulty, everything human.
Before ending itself,
Humanity killed its humanity.
Men, women, children, soldier.
All synonyms.
Anyone that wasn’t an ally became a foe.
Hatred was crowned King and fear was its Queen.
And just like they did to us, I dominate the mountain of debris.
And along the endless horizon, there’s nothing but destruction.
Unrecognizable civilization with no signs of Us.
Or at least, nothing in my line of sight.
