Did you know that octopuses have three hearts, and two of them stop beating when they swim?
Two branchial hearts pump blood through the gills to oxygenate it, one systemic heart pumps the oxygenated blood to the rest of the body.
Also, octopus blood contains hemocyanin, which is a copper-rich protein, instead of hemoglobin like, for example, humans do, and this makes their blood blue. When they swim, the systemic heart actually stops beating, which is why octopuses prefer to crawl - swimming puts too much strain on them.
Yet another fact of the day coming tomorrow. If I won't forget.

Today's fact of the day - a typical, fair-weather cumulus cloud weighs about 500000 kilograms (or 1.1m pounds) which roughly translates to the weight of about 100 elephants.
