Aaaaaaaand we're back with yet another random fact of the day! This time it's April Fools special!

In 1957, the BBC aired a spoof report on the show Panorama about a family in Switzerland harvesting spaghetti from trees. The segment highlighted a purported "spaghetti harvest" and bountiful crop due to a mild winter and the "disappearance of the spaghetti weevil."
Back then, spaghetti was still considered an exotic delicacy by many Brits. The hoax was so convincing that hundreds of viewers called the BBC afterward, asking how they could grow their own spaghetti tree. The BBC replied: "Place a sprig of spaghetti in a tin of tomato sauce and hope for the best."

Happy April Fools everyone!

You're welcome, Eclipse. Don't forget to tune in tomorrow for another random fact of the day!
Taku 30. Mrz. um 14:51
Here's another random fact of the day!

Did you know that octopuses have three hearts, and two of them stop beating when they swim?
Two branchial hearts pump blood through the gills to oxygenate it, one systemic heart pumps the oxygenated blood to the rest of the body.
Also, octopus blood contains hemocyanin, which is a copper-rich protein, instead of hemoglobin like, for example, humans do, and this makes their blood blue. When they swim, the systemic heart actually stops beating, which is why octopuses prefer to crawl - swimming puts too much strain on them.

Here's another fact of the day for you dorks - In the 1830s, ketchup was marketed as a medicinal cure for indigestion, diarrhea, and jaundice. Ohio physician Dr. John Cook Bennett popularized this by selling "tomato pills," claiming they could treat various stomach ailments.
