It's been a long time since I've reached out - I hope you're all safe and doing well.

I just wanted to reach out about a phishing scam that has been going about where a friend will ping you with "Sup mate, can you help me please?".

Said scam works as follow:

• You get the "Sup mate, can you help me please?" message.
  
• After replying, the phishing bot will elaborate with a request, needing perhaps a vote or something like that, and will submit a link to you.
  
• If you click the link, you will be brought to a website asking you to sign into Steam in order to perform the "helpful" task.
  
• Assuming you sign into the phishing website, your account will eventually (could be a few days) repeat this phishing scam to various friends on your friends list, and will possibly block them; thus removing the message history on your end. You may not even be aware of the DMs, as they do so rather quickly before performing the block (so they can't warn you about your suspicious behavior).

What can you do if you encounter this? Don't click any links. If you have, especially if you have signed into their phishing website, change your Steam password and the password of the email associated with the Steam account. Monitor your credit card to make sure that it hasn't made any unauthorized purchases. Check your blocked users list to see if you can recover any friends the bot has removed.

This phishing scam has affected various members in this community group, and I know many of your are on each other's friends list, so let's stop the spread. Stay safe out there.

Hello everyone. As some of you may have already known, we plan to completely rework the server into something slightly less held together by duck tape and jarate. That being said we need to assemble a new dev team to crank out some new content and fix our old content. The following positions are available:

General Developer:
- Make plugins (We use sourcepawn, similar to C++/C)
- General milling about the server

Mappers:
- Make us some new, original maps to play on
- Rebalance/Remake/Remaster old maps

Hal Devs:
- Make us some custom hales.
- Rebalance/Remake/Remaster old hales

You don't have to have 30 years of experience to apply, nor do you have to be a god at programming/modeling etc. We do expect that you atleast have a basic idea of what you're doing. We expect that you will hone your skills while helping us build a better server.

In my last post, i stated that we have a issue tracker for all the bugs on the server. It does us no good if nobody posts any issues on it. Please go ahead and find our last announcement with the issue tracker link and post away

I hate to tell you guys this but 'deon airforce is gey' is an intentional feature of the gamemode. There is no need to post about it in the tracker.


This is just a general warning and I will not be naming names, even to other admins (yet...), but I'd like to remind you all that we may have changed owners and bean counters, but our rule set for the server has not changed. Please refrain from using racial/homophobic slurs while in game. That is what #thesaltyspitoon on Discord is for. Keep it there.

The minecraft has been updated to support version1.14.3.
I am also juggling the idea of adding a plugin to support Vivecraft, the vr minecraft mod, to the server. From what i understand of the plugin, it will not transform the server into VR only, but it will add support for those in VR. Let me know if there is even a basis for this please


Item/Key Donations:
I have been asked by many of you if we will ever support item-based/key donations. The answer is a hard maybe. The difficulty with this is that we would need to first find a viable way to empty our coffers of donated keys consistently in exchange for money. Keys and items don't pay for server co-locations. If i can find a way to consistently get cash from your key donations i will consider it. Let us know of any suggestions you might have

Non-Patreon Donations:

As some of you may remember, we used to take paypal and honeyledger donations before we switched to Patreon. The reason i am not accepting paypal donations at this time is because my IRL full name is displayed front and center on my paypal.me link. As you might be able to tell, that's a mild no-no. The reason i don't use Honeyledger is because it died (kinda). If you don't like subscription based donations, I would suggest signing up for our patreon at whatever price you feel like donating (try to keep it under $20 at a time) on the last day of a given month, waiting for your account to get charged on the first of the next month, then cancelling your subscription before the next billing period. We will give you the patreon equivalent for what you paid for(please tell us what you did in your farewell note so i don't dismiss it as spam)
