G'day Loggerheads,

Another quick update on the project.

Full steam ahead on the game, right now finalising the look and feel and putting all the parts together to give this Aussie Horror the best experience I can muster. Totally flat out, but if you happen to glace at the Steam Page here you will notice a bit of much needed cosmetic surgery.

A beautifully Illustrated Steam Capsule by a local Queensland artist
Some refined word-smithing on the copy (my missus helped on that)
Updated screenshots to showcase the updated characters and environments

What do you reakon? As always feedback more than welcome.

What’s Next

Trailer

The current trailer is well and truly outdated so the next update should hopefully see an updated version which will reflect how the finished game will look and feel.

More Game progress

I will continue to plug away at the game and get some more updates for you next time. Hopefully gameplay and story progress as well as anything else that might take your fancy.

Kinda' LOVING THIS!

So was trying demos today and one was the new Resident Evil 4 demo and one was this. Having been a huge fan of the original RE4, was kinda 'blah' on the remake and probably won't buy it, but THIS FREAKIN GAME is seriously fun and new! I went right to the page to see if I could buy it. Let me know when - can't wait!!!!...

Loggerhead Update

G'day Loggerheads, an update on this project is well overdue so I wanted to share where I am currently at with the project.

I got some excellent feedback and appreciate the positive and more constructive comments on the demo so I am working hard to address those issues as well as keep a touch of the charming nostalgic janky-ness these games are known for.

Right now I am full steam ahead on the full game and based on feedback I have some key updates to share.

What’s New in the Full Version

Controls

Fully reworked to be much less buggy and much more controller-friendly.
Options for tank controls or modern 3D movement (similar to RE1 Remake), plus D‑pad navigation for menus.

Combat & Shooting

Melee is faster and more fluid. You can charge attacks for high-damage tactical hits.
Shooting is upgraded: enemy lock-on, vertical aim, and the option for critical dismemberment—blow off heads, legs, etc.
Undead foes may get up again, for another go but each can be permanently vanquished—just weigh up if it is worth the ammo.

Game Environment

The full game is much more expansive. The Boggarogga Creek campsite acts as a hub to a number of sub areas. The current areas planned for exploration are...

• Campsite cabins

• The “Boggo” Hotel (pub)

• Shearing Shed

• Church

• Tunnels

• Fisherman’s Lodge

• Main Highway

Plus, expect plenty of obscure Aussie references.

Behind the Scenes

In 2024, I secured funding from Screen Queensland, which has helped upgrade tools and assets—though I’m still keeping my day job for now.
Thanks to this support, I’ve hired a local artist to refresh key artwork and updated the Steam capsule art.

A local musician was also brought aboard: the score is inspired by classic OzSploitation films, with horror vibes that fit the tone perfectly.

Just a little criticism

Have a document section for the inventory so players don't have to physically go back to the note, have an optional auto aim system as it can be hard to determine angles and it isn't fair to the player to waste shots due to camera angles, and don't have enemies just show up in a different load zone, almost ran into the two zombies from inside the store when they just suddenly showed up next to the gas pumps when I no real reason to suspect they could leave the store. Edit: So I'm not 100% negative, despit...

Love the tone and setting of the demo - there's potential for some classic grindhouse here! We'll be keeping an eye on this at the Fixed Camera Appreciation Society...!

Updates V1.1

V1.1 Demo Updates Thank you so much everyone who has played and enjoyed the demo. Love the feedback I have received. Thus I have made a few small tweaks based on some of the issues. Cricket Bat swings much faster - better melee combat. Character turn speed is slightly faster. Cash note a bit clearer on what to do with the cash. Slight improvement to the animation transitions (characters should slide less). Next I will look at: Overall animation system improvement. Sound design ...
