A pretty cool game that is unfortunately being run by the thinnest skinned ♥♥♥♥♥ on the planet. The developer, Lava, has threatened content creators with legal action for expressing their opinions on the state of the game. All of this while flooding the game with an avalanche of pay-to-win packs to accelerate progress leagues beyond what f2p players are capable of.

This game genuinely has a lot of neat things that eclipse other idle games in quality. Unfortunately it's shackled to an overgrown child who can't handle any form of critique. Y'know, something that's pretty important to a game with an active development cycle. I will miss progressing in Idleon, but nothing is worth tolerating a petulant man who would rather huff his own farts in a echo chamber than actually address problems with game and its community.

Had a very good time mowing down swathes of Nazi scum. The story, music and atmosphere are nice bonuses.

Good game marred by a rushed release date. There's plenty to like in this game such as the good weapon balancing, build diversity, a very varied PvP scene where there's more than 10 weapons that people use (looking at you DaS III); a soundtrack on par with series standards and plenty of extra story information for people who seek it. Unfortunately there's a lot of extremely janky hitboxes, horrendously poor enemy AI and baffling design decisions (snap movement, everything about the ADP stat, soul memory) that weigh the whole thing down from excellent to mediocre.

This game boasts a large number of bosses to fight, but when you break it down a surprisingly large number of the vanilla release roster is forgettable at best. Maps don't fare much better ranging from the good like forest of the fallen giants and lost bastile (large, interconnected, lots of shortcuts, plenty to loot and fight) to the laughable king's passage (a literal straight line with 4 enemies). These maps never hit the levels of awful that plagued Dark Souls 1's second half, but that's not saying much. Thankfully the DLC (mostly) salvages the whole package by consistently providing the best boss fights and map design of the entire game, elevating the game to a title worthy of the series' name.

Scholar of the First Sin edition - a "director's cut" styled re-release of the original DaS II - offers all of the aforementioned DLC packaged in, slight visual improvements and remixed enemy placements to keep veterans of the original release on their toes. PvE-wise the most significant change that comes to mind is the placement of more petrified NPCs to stonewall exploration unless you have a certain item. They bumped this number up from 6 in the original to 17, with many of the rewards associated with them not worth the hassle. For PvPers the main reason to grab this version is the existence of the agape ring -- an accessory that absorbs souls without raising your soul memory, effectively letting you control your co-op and invasion level ranges.

If you own the original and its 3 DLC releases then I'd hold off until there's a sale; otherwise it's a pretty good deal. The game gets a somewhat justified bad rap but is still worth playing for the neat ideas it does manage to execute well, incredible DLC and extremely good PvP.

Fantastic retro/90's-style shooter with enough identity to elevate itself beyond a supposed nostalgia trip and into an amazing game in its own right. Someone need to give Andrew Hulshult a medal for his contributions to stellar game soundtracks, because ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ does DUSK have some bangers.
