I've been a huge fan of the Homeworld series since the first one, so naturally I had high expectations for this game. When it came out I saw all the negative reviews I was disappointed. I held off buying the game for a long time until I was able to get it cheap through Humble Bundle.
Now that I've played through the game, I don't understand all the negative reviews. Homeworld 3 is a worthy successor to the series. The game continues with the same space RTS combat I was familiar with from previous games, and the story held my interest.
I didn't enjoy it as much as Deserts of Kharak, that probably still sits as my favourite. And Homeworld 1 set such a high bar with story telling it was always going to be difficult to follow.

I do have criticisms however.
Homeworld 3 is on par with HW2 in my opinion, in story, gameplay, and graphics. However considering HW2 was released in 2003, I would have have expected a game released 20 years later to have significantly improved graphics. Homeworld 3 does NOT have that look. Graphics wise maybe only a slight improvement over the HW2 remaster. One positive is at least the lower system requirements will make the game accessible to more people. You don't need a high end system to run this game.

I much prefer the HW2 battle cruisers to the ones in HW3. In HW2 they look big and powerful, in HW3 the camera is too zoomed out most of the time to make out any details. The new mothership is pretty, but most of the smaller ships are forgettable.

I liked the large superstructures in the maps, although they did sometimes become annoying when rotating the camera. But most of the levels played out pretty well, except the Citadel Mission. I kept failing this mission, until I searched online and found the the way to complete the level was completely different to what the mission briefing would have me believe. Then it was easy. The ship chatter is a very nice touch, it adds to the atmosphere.

Story wise I didn't mind, it kept my interest. I really liked the characters of Imogen and Isaac. And i liked seeing Karan and the Khar-Sajuuk again. I found the Incarnate Queen annoying, but so was Makaan in HW2).

If you have been holding off getting this game, I recommend getting it, maybe wait till a 50% discount. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you wont. I don't understand the negative reviews. The game doesn't deserve them in my opinion.
Homeworld 3 might be the worst Homeworld game, but that's only because all the previous games set the bar so high. It's still a very good game. My hope is this wont be the end of the Homeworld series, because I would very much like to see more stories in the Homeworld universe.

I don't understand the negative reviews on here.

It's Portal, but with better graphics. And the graphics look amazing considering how long ago Portal was release. Light sources, even the light from the portal gun, are nicely reflected in the environment.

Here's hoping for Ray Tracing to one day come to the Half-Life franchise as well.

I didn't have any performance issues, game ran fine for me with an RTX2060.

Great story, great action. Using skyhook during combat is awesome. One of the best FPS games i've played recently.
