They don't love Oblivion. They know you love Oblivion. And they counted on you turning your brain off and buying this. They did not even bother to pretend they tried. This is the laziest, most cynical cash grab they have ever made.

Go buy the original for 10 euros. Install mods and It will be infinitely better than this. And you will have 45 euros left for beer or treat yourself to a monthly nexus subscription.

My favorite Civilization game and maybe overall grand strategy game. I can always come back playing just another round and enjoy it to this day. The expansions and the Vox Populi Mod Pack are almost mandatory for the full enjoyment.
linux note: do not use the native version, use proton with -dx9 flag.

Early Access Review
abandoned in early access, they announced some new stuff but this is dead and the casual playerbase I enjoyed playing with as well.

I initially bought it because it was essentially a 3D Rimworld clone.
I thought copying so much of the core gameplay was a smart move at the beginning, you are instantly familiar with the UI which lowers the entry barrier.
This obviously raises the question of their own creative output being a copycat in many aspects and therein lies the ironic fate of the copycat.. The developers never had a long-term vision to establish their own identity or add meaningful innovations that would justify choosing this over the original.

Every time I played, I found myself asking "why am I not just playing Rimworld instead?"

I bought this game back in early access, and since then they've added a METRIC TON of content. seriously, it's probably the biggest action roguelike content-wise compared to the classics like Vampire Survivors, Holocure, Halls of Torment etc.
But here's the thing, my biggest issue is the same now as it was in early access.

The core gameplay loop is flawed. Once you hit higher difficulty content, you're basically just dashing around in circles dodging red damage zones and projectiles. Every game mode feels the same, every character, every weapon you pick, every rune you choose - it all plays fundamentally the same. Doesn't matter how many new characters, weapons, or maps they add (which they do for free, massive props for that), it gets repetitive and you find yourself dashing around until the level is over. I recall a dev stream for the 1.0 release where they wanted to address this exact situation to make it less heavy on damage zones, but they never really did. They went a different route instead.
They've added a bunch of new systems (short version):
- Character-specific abilities that make heroes more unique which is GREAT.
- The rune system is integrated well with skill choices and builds you can explore.
- the expanded talent trees makes you feel that you are always getting stronger, one percent point at a time.
Again there is SO much stuff to unlock and upgrade.
But boiling it down, you're still just running in circles around red circles and squares.

And here's the most frustrating part: on higher curse runs, you have to turn down visual effects just to see what's happening, so I can't even appreciate what my character is doing or the impact of my skill choices. Monsters die, the screen gets cleared, but the feedback on my character getting progressively stronger is not visually represented.

It's a weird situation. They keep adding more free content instead of going the paid DLC route, which I genuinely respect. But content flooding isn't fixing the fundamental problem.
The game needs a core gameplay overhaul, not another map, character, weapon, or rune. But I see this happening now as very unlikely.

Looking at this now at the end of 2025, the competition in this niche genre may NOT offer the amount of content that you can get here with all the meta-progression systems but often have a better core loop that makes replaying more fun and rewarding. So I lost hope on this project. I am torn on giving this still a positive but for now, i have no desire to play it again no matter how much bells and whistles they add.

I have no clue about the Hololive/VTuber world, and honestly? Doesn't matter.
Holocure is an incredibly solid vampire survivors-like with well over 20 characters, EACH with unique skills and mechanics that actually change how you play.
The gameplay rivals paid games in the genre that cost 10-15€ and this one is FREE as in free beer.
How can you beat that? The amount of variety and polish here puts some paid titles to shame.
Easy recommendation.

We are so back.
Solid DLC, the maps are CHEF's kiss, the music, the items.
Two new survivors that are both unique and offer more variety to once again sink another hundred hours easily.
I am happy about the fact that Gearbox and the Ror2 community are now somewhat aligned on what makes this one of the best roguelikes you can play.
The future is bright.

Early Access Review
Fellowship nails the concept - it takes WoW's Mythic+ dungeons and makes them accessible without the massive time investment. The core gameplay is fun, especially moment-to-moment.

I played tank (meiko) and enjoyed the role itself, but this is where the game's fatal flaw emerges: the community expects you to already know optimal routes and mechanics. As tank, you're leading the group, which means you're also the first target for flame when you don't know the "meta" path through a dungeon.

There's no room to learn. No forgiveness for new players. Queuing as DPS is completely hopeless if the tank or healer leave until they get their desired dungeon.
The limited communication tools don't help either.

Great idea, solid gameplay, but unless you have 3 friends willing to commit and learn together, you're in for a toxic experience. Solo players beware.

Too shallow and uninteresting. There are better entries in the genre and the only unique factor here is the inventory system where you optimize storage space for items and synergies based on their positions.
Not good enough and already starting to gate features behind paid DLC.

Absolutely glorious to play this classic again. You get the same awesome campaigns to play through again with better graphics and ultrawide support. Through holy tech communion and blessings from the Omnissiah this also runs very well with Proton on Linux. Praise the Emperor
