I don't usually do this. But, in the state this game is in, It is not worth its money, nor the time. There are too many bugs that are/will not be corrected by the Devs, since the discord is now a ghost town, also, you can easily get soft locked. Despite that, there are pretty interesting parts that you can see the effort put in, the way they put them together is the bad part. 3.5/10

If you feel that you are the best roguelike player in the whole world, play this game. All the kicks in the balls you'll suffer will make you think if you were ever good in the first place, 32 hours and haven't seen the end once, 10/10.

Bought to me as a gift last Christmas. You might not like it at the very beginning, give it one hour at least, the music slaps, god runs are awesome, and the Watcher is incredible, I hope they put her in an update to the sequel, or at least mod her in. Also, very strong modding support. One of the best roguelikes/lites!

Early Access Review
We got Genghis Khan as one of the Kings, what can we ask more?
The new quest mode is also incredibly fun, the modifiers are awesome.
Only missing modding support to be perfect, what they said it might be added later (when out of early access).

I've played Marvel Rivals since the beta on July-August and I loved it, even playing it at a 700*600 something resolution and the full release didn't disappoint.
Release Date
To be sure I would be able to play it as soon as It released, I spent almost 30 GB of mobile data (internet is not very fast here). It was worth it.
Release day was a great success, I did not incur in any problem, the only thing some reported was not being able to buy things in the shop.
Gameplay and Heroes/Villains
All characters come from well known Marvel comics/movies and media, there were a lot of things that could have gone wrong, we all have our heroes and villains in our little pedestals. Netease did not disappoint, they all play like you would expect them to play. Our hopes were high and they delivered! Well done!
Marvel Rivals in the Hero shooter genre
As many of Marvel Rivals players, I played Overwatch almost since it came out on 2016, the game definitely is not the same now, Rivals brings the sequel that we needed through Marvel characters. While the only thing that worked flawlessly since launch (and even now) on Overwatch 2 was the shop, the only thing that didn't work on Marvel Rivals was the shop.
There's a joke that Marvel Rivals just copies Overwatch, that's not wrong, but innovates in it's own way, it takes what worked on Overwatch 1 (e.g. 6v6 and some ideas of hero designs) and gives its own twist, adding destructible environments, and team-ups that add passive and active abilities when your team has certain heroes and the best part, battlepasses won't expire (at least if you paid for it, reducing fomo).
If you still think that Rivals copied Overwatch in some things, you are not wrong, there's no room for much innovation on the hero shooter genre without making it feel strange and alien. But that happens in any genre, if we go far enough. We would see that Overwatch copied TF2 and Plants Vs Zombies (the tps's) and these are just the ones I played and remeber, there's a lot more.
If you still can't fathom what I'm saying, I have a funny video for you. https://youtu.be/nOT8jOdm4qc?si=eV3dwWXnGCsa4YK_ (not a rick-roll)
Some cons
Like every good thing, there's some cons, I can only see 2 in all my hours of playing, one that does not affect me, but the fact that the purple free currency (chronovium tokens) disappears after the season ends. I'm sure they will make any type of conversion to premium currency, so it's a non-issue.
The one that left me with a bad taste on my mouth was the use of bots on casual PvP game modes if you are losing too much. At first it may seem good, you feel like you are better than you really are after stomping some "players", but the bots are so bad you can easily detect them. The placebo effect dies and the problem is that bots in the bot game modes are actually good!!
They should put a toggle on the settings to be able to choose if you want to play against bots or not and increase their difficulty. I started playing competitive after finding this out, and I was having a lot of fun (that is a pro though).
Final thoughts
Marvel Rivals is a good game, the fact that was made by an asian company shouldn't matter when reviewing or playing a game. If you are not happy with the state of Overwatch play it. If you wanna try it, go ahead. If you never played a third person shooter, try it. If you still love Overwatch, try it, you can play both, you shouldn't have loyalty to a company.
Marvel Rivals is direct competition to Overwatch 2, finally Activision Blizzard (owned by Microsoft) will have to step up their game to compete, what is a good thing for both Overwatch 2 players and Marvel Rivals players
Hope to see you on this amazing game and any discussion is accepted, I'll try to respond to comments.
Edit starts here:
After 7 months
I enjoyed season 0 and season 1 till 1.5. a lot, I remembered why I liked hero shooters, it was like going back to 2016-2017 Overwatch 1. Then you may ask out of all of the good things said before, why did I change my review?
First of all, there's bots in quick play, not players using cheats, real bots that will plague your online PVP to make you feel better, giving you a freebie win when you are "losing too much". I played one day in season 3, a third of them was against bots. It's not fun for anyone, they are incredibly bad, you easily notice they are bots, you get flagged for leaving also. All in all, it's a 5 minute queue. Even if the bots were good and the experience was somewhat "enjoyable", if I queue PvP, I want to play against other players, there's a break of trust there. It makes me stop playing almost instantly when I play against bots.
Then you might think that competitive mode does not have bots, yes, you'd be correct, I mostly played it, because of that reason. The problem is that competitive is riddled with EOMM (Engagement Optimized Matchmaking), there's no close matches, only stomp or be stomped, what is not enjoyable for anyone involved. Right now, I completely stopped playing this game. There's much better games to play, most of them offline indie roguelike games that don't try to pry your wallet open. Games are that, trying to have fun after a long day of work. When you prefer work to playing a game, you either are a workaholic or the game is not that funny anymore, maybe both.
I wanted to share this since I didn't feel my last review was how I felt right now.
Be safe and have fun guys.
New edit 30/1
The forced bot games in quick play made me quit the game entirely, the only way to not deal with them is to play comp but the matchmaking is horrendous. Would recommend Deadlock instead of this chinese spyware that doesn't even allow you to say Taiwan, Tianamen Square and Winnie the Pooh (you can if you use same awkward spacings though).
