There's a lot to like, but it's so rough that it can be a bit jarring. Beat maps that just feel off (heavy rhythm game player here), dialogue that cycles back and forth between "awesome" and "did a 3rd grader write this?". Story that seems decent but pacing so bad it undermines the whole thing. Individual pieces are good, but there's very little "glue" between them, if that makes sense.

Also the gameplay is fairly unpolished, and it's quite easy to sequence break by accident. No indication on auto saves, and quite a lot of missable content that's not intuitive to find.

If that didn't scare you away, then definitely do give it a shot.

A fever trip of a game, the atmosphere and experience of it all is on a level that's honestly hard to put into words.

The game is genuinely fun, the vibes are good, I can't say enough positive things about that. But it's completely overshadowed by the revival "mechanics".

There are better ways to add difficulty to a game than putting players in timeout for 10-20+ minutes. (This is especially bad when introducing new players to the game)

I had high expectations, considering the OG Generations was one of the best 3D Sonic games.

This surpassed those expectations.

Used to recommend this. The base game is good. STAY AWAY from the DLC if you value your time.

There's difficulty, and then there's tedium. Spent an hour trying to jank my way up a tower with inconsistent movement (such as boosting into a wall sometimes letting me climb it, sometimes flinging me off, and such, with no checkpoints unlike base game), only to be greeted by a short cutscene and the game crashing on the spot forcing me to do it again.
