Managed to fix it. The firewall was not enabled on guest / public networks. Thank you for the contribution to the community. It's been quite ♥♥♥♥ for a while and it sucks.

Also worth knowing, the script downloads a file called rogueips.txt in the same folder. You can check for correct downloads by checking if the IP is in that list.

Is your windows firewall correctly enabled and blocking? Is it allowing you to join them or only listing them? You can also try the blacklist import method if that works better for you.

I'm sure you've heard that Valve forgot to ship the 64-bit binaries for HL2:DM Client with the latest update. Amazing stuff.

To update your own server for now pick the beta branch, then copy steam.inf

The solution will be different for everyone, we actually haven't updated but run a custom private hl2dm that is capable of talking to the new client.

Hello, I would like to ask how you solved the problem with updating the server in HL2DM

I forget to mention since region might matter. I'm in NA West region, so around there was where I found the servers.

The main issue is figuring out which servers that weren't spam are actually malicious, like the ones with just bots in them. I was thinking of making some type of automated bot in a sandbox system that checks the server browser list, joins servers, sees if they are malicious or not, and if it is, it adds the IP to the blocklist automatically. Idk if there is a larger server IP blocklist project that I can merge my findings into, since I think that finding malicious servers can be automated somehow. It's just that nobody has really done it yet from what I've seen.

I think the other issue is that the smart servers switch IPs, so by the time that I send this, some of the IPs don't exist, but I did copy them in and then blocked them from my firewall.

I'll check again and just list the ones that are spam that take over the entire server browser. I won't put servers with just bots in them.

I can say that the CS 1.6 servers that I listed are entirely correct. It was just the spam ones and I don't see them anymore currently.

So I should just add IPs on my own if I notice spam servers with 255/255 hogging the entire server browser?
