There's so much love and appreciation for the genre here. Zexion takes the best of Metroid, Axiom Verge, and Environmental Station Alpha, combining it with its own fresh ideas to make a Metroid-like masterpiece!

Aside from great power-up and map design, I was surprised with the delightful set-pieces the game has you stumble upon.

Additionally, the developer has included several out-of-game goodies, such as assist options, randomizer mode, and more.

Note on difficulty: while I was initially skeptical of the bosses' difficulty, I realized I was looking at them the way I would a modern metroidvania. Instead of the now-typical dance of dodges and punishes, the retro design pushes for more of a "gunslinger duel"-type of experience (you are getting a lot of missile ammo upgrades for a reason). That said, do not rage quit like I almost did at the plant boss—you can destroy the wall-shooty things!

Huge kudos for the solo developer for absolutely nailing it.

A worthy and modern King's Field-like, of which there are so few. If you enjoyed Lunacid, this should be right up your alley.

Great game, cozy and fun. It keeps you on your toes, introducing new mechanics that tie in with the story. The hyper corporate/capitalism critique is on-point, too. I'm probably going to replay it soon!

Superb! Great soundtrack, short experience but engaging throughout the whole thing.

Really excited for BEERCRUSH 2: Return of John Beer, if it ever becomes a thing.

The greatest Inscryption-like I've seem so far! The gameplay while intimidating at first, is actually quite simple. This couple with great audio & visual design and an intriguing plot makes for a worthwhile experience.

Great incremental game mixed with zachtronics-like mechanics. Doesn't get absurdly complex in its machinations either, so it's very "palpable".

Absolutely gorgeous game. Presentation-wise, an outstanding piece of art with beautiful art and music. I cannot stress enough how joyful it is to experience every scene, menu, mini-game, cutscene, and everything else. The game is handcrafted with the utmost attention to detail and love for its inspirations, and it shows.

If you like the genre, it is a must buy!

Short, but the level design and halflife-esqueism are superb. What a tiny gem this is!
