Gorgeous for it's time, pretty fun combat, even if repetitive and an okay story for about 8 hours of play? Absolutely worth it (at a deep discount).

Thought this game was gonna be a quick knock off the backlog list, but ended up being too fun to not go for gold on as many levels as I could. It was annoying only a small portion of times and failing never felt unfair. A really damn solid and fun game!

I should preface this by saying that I’m far from an expert on bullet heavens. This is only my fourth outing in the genre, so I can’t really go deep into the analysis of the mechanics. That said, as a complete noob I found the skills you acquire to be both fun and effective with fair progression that never makes the game feel too.

What I personally like most about Jotunnslayer, however, is its atmosphere, level design, and creature design. All three are superb and really help the game come into its own. The Norse world(s) feel so damn cool and the enemies fit the tone perfectly.

After nearly nine hours, I managed to beat the game on normal difficulty with a single character, yet I haven’t even remotely completed everything the game has to offer. There's replay value here for sure. Overall, it’s genuinely a fun experience and one that definitely deserves your attention.

The game has a great atmosphere, amazing visuals, and stellar voice acting, but it’s ultimately held back by a fairly mediocre story and some very unnecessary QTE sequences. Most of those QTEs don’t really matter either, since you can fail all of them (with the exception of one) and still reach the same conclusion with no game over screens.

What frustrates me most about the weak story and the silly QTEs is that this is clearly a talented team who could have done much better. I really don’t like getting to the point where I start rolling my eyes while playing a game like this.

That said, I still recommend Fort Solis, mainly because there’s solid groundwork here. I genuinely hope the devs treat this as a learning experience, because the talent is obvious and it shouldn't be wasted.

I love games that teach me about other cultures, and I really liked the start of this one. The short documentary clips scattered throughout the game are amazing, and I genuinely enjoyed listening to the Iñupiaq people talk about their culture ... but sadly, the game has one big problem: the gameplay. I’m not usually someone who puts gameplay above everything else, especially in such story-rich games, but I draw the line at frustrating. I just didn't have fun in the last hour. The controls are far too clunky and because of that I simply can’t recommend the game.

I’m leaving it with a sour taste in my mouth, which is a shame, because I would love and hope there would be more games in the cultural education genre.

Only had one session with this and I honestly can’t remember the last time I nearly died from laughter. I’m a total sucker for subtitling movies in languages I don’t understand, so this felt instantly familiar, but here you’re dubbing over parts of English-language movie clips instead, with the added twist of throwing in some pre-existing SFX. Absolutely love it and can’t recommend it enough… assuming you have friends, of course. If not, well ... sad.

What Remains of Edith Finch is a collection of short peculiar stories of a pretty eccentric family. The stories can be a bit abstract, but they are always based on something concrete. They are somewhat whimsical in form, but ultimately tragic in meaning. Did the ending make me tear up? Yes. Yes, it did.

I often think about the imagination I've lost on my way to adulthood, the devs of this game managed to nurture it and they made something they can justly be proud of.

The fourth "Wordle" game I played and I'm still mad this isn't really Wordle.

A short interactive story without much actual gameplay. It’s more of an experience, and it’s definitely something that can be a hit or miss depending on what you’re into. I found the conversations to be genuinely well written, well acted, and most importantly, believable! It’s absolutely not for anyone who doesn’t enjoy a slow burn, but if you do, there’s something here worth your time.
