A truly unique shooter experience

Really awesome and involved gunplay that legitimately feels tense and escalates naturally as you gain strength. There's an option to tone it down, but the intended method of loading weapons has you unload, load, ♥♥♥♥, pump, or complete other actions depending on the weapon. It's an obstacle that at first is clumsy and cumbersome as you figure out each weapon's specific workings and rhythm but rewards you for skilled play and practice as it becomes more and more effortless, and depending on the weapon you can actually find little quirks with the inputs (for example, you can slamfire the pump action shotgun, and you can manually load rifle cartridges into the bolt for the sniper rifle if you lose all your magazines). Yes, you can lose magazines, as there is a "quick reload" option, where your character simply rips out the empty one and throws it onto the ground to replace it instead of carefully putting it away.

You start out having to carefully peek around corners and count your shots so you don't get caught with your proverbial pants down (proverbial because the main character doesn't actually wear pants) and by the end of the game, you're running and gunning like the best of the boomer shooter heroes. Being able to select what traits to invest in as you go forward also gives you a fair amount of choice to build your own playstyle around your upgrades, abilities, and weapon mods you buy. There's a good variety of weapons to choose between, SMGs, lever action rifles, heavy machine guns, some guns have alt fire attachments, although some choices can feel redundant and overlap in role with weapons in other slots. I feel the weapon durability can be a bit punishing with how quickly some weapons degrade, causing more and more jams where you have to spam the cocking key, but this can also be turned off separately from the reload mechanics.

The violence is sickening, and I love it for that. Characters will pant and moan as they're holding their organs in, bleeding out on the ground. They might try to take out a pistol while mortally wounded and take potshots at you, or prime a grenade to try ending you and themselves. Sometimes they'll just sit there and stare at you, eyes dulling, waiting for the end. The character designs, especially for the major characters, are also highly eroticized, and it can paint quite a stomach-turning picture. Very reminiscent of Ghost in the Shell or Eva. It's unique and, bluntly, not something I could ever see a large studio having the courage to put into one of their own projects today, which is why indie projects like these are all the more precious. It's a vision that is very much the author's own with little compromise.

The level design and color palette are pretty bleak overall, but I feel this adds to the overall mood. It's quite a dour game, filled with lifeless factories, cityscapes, etc. with your enemies being trans-human cyborgs hopelessly brainwashed into insanity, fighting for cybernetic "demons" who have already managed to wipe out most of humanity. There's not a lot of hope in this story, and a fair amount of depravity on all sides. Human beings are meat for the grinder, for and against oblivion. It's only fitting that their deaths (yours included - you die, you get replaced with a clone), gory and violent as can be, simply become routine as you go through the game.

This game and its predecessor paint a very interesting picture, and if the developer ever plans on making more games, or content for this game, I eagerly await what he has to offer. There's something worth your time here.

Might be Kodaka's magnum opus in his portfolio, no joke. There is so much going on here, it's so dense, so many different storylines you can stumble into. It took me 20 hours for my first playthrough and it barely scratched the surface. The gameplay is actually great too, which is a nice change from DR's more questionable minigames that often felt like they were just getting in the way of your fun by the 3rd or 4th case.
My only reservation is that yes, this is definitely longer than a DR story, so if you're looking to have everything figured out as to what's going on, mysteries solved, etc. by the 20 hour mark, not gonna happen. But considering how endearing a lot of these characters are, I don't mind spending more time with them. Still gotta find that happy ending, no matter how long it takes.

Cool game with clean presentation and simple, Pac-Man-esque gameplay. Line of sight is limited, but if an enemy kills you it leaves behind a portion of your dots to recover which also lights up the surrounding area, which can help you recover your progress without stumbling in the dark. Overall a good time waster, and it's free, so no downside if it's not your cup of tea.

Genuinely wonderful game with a great soundtrack that feels like a real tribute to and extension of the classic Sega arcade titles. Simple but addictive in bursts. San Fran and NY are standouts in both gameplay and soundtrack - Another Level brought a big smile to my face. Don't miss out if you like arcade racing and shaving seconds off your times to some upbeat tunes.

Early Access Review
Genuinely fun co-op horror-themed game (but you'll be laughing just as soon as you finish screaming when you and your friends die in stupid ways). Can be a bit jank, in an acceptable way - I get why making jumps isn't as fluid in something like an FPS, it's not supposed to be, but they still can feel like more of a gamble than I'd like. Regardless, great game, fun scares, laughs, and surprises, and a gameplay loop that encourages you to go into the dark and get stuff and confront/avoid the horrors rather than take a look at a few rooms and leave each time.

Incredibly atmospheric and provides great, familiar, unsettling environments to take interesting pictures within. Great sound design, actually made me jump a few times despite the lack of danger. I'd say it's well worth the money if you're up for a creepy time, plus there are a number of easter eggs and extra goodies to hunt down to extend the playtime and have more of an excuse to revisit the levels.

Crazy fast shootgame where you can slide into a jump to dropkick someone's head off, then 360 degree spin into headshotting someone with a sniper rifle that shoots rods of steel. Also there's all sorts of crazy paranormal stuff happening, it's very fun!

the bot and hacking situation is as bad as ever. they'll stack lobbies and autovote out people who try to votekick any. just don't bother at this point, whatever new doodads the game adds it is not worth it if you want to have fun.

It's like a card game but you're also watching another guy play it and also you're stuck with a crusty crazy man in a cabin who really loves DMing. And then even more crazy stuff happens. Do not spoil yourself on anything, just play this, please.
