Now that sony has backed off and i can give a review based entirely on the state of the game, i recommend this game heavily.

Its fun, action packed, and great with friends or with randoms. the explosions are satisfying, fighting is tough but (mostly) fair, and the missions have a decent amount of variety and replay-ability. Stratagems are a great mechanic that sells the game heavy from just your average third person shooter, and is my favorite part of any missions calling in the 500kg (although you'd assume the range would be bigger). overall if sony stays away from what the devs wanna do, i call this game of the year worthy.

TL;DR game has nice art style, combat, exploration, replayability, super small storage space required, and not graphically intensive. worth full price but is always on sale. advertised modding support that seems easy.

Comparing this to Minecraft is both easy and hard to do. In Minecraft, the building, more sandbox sorta thing is at the forefront. Here, the combat and light RPG elements are more at the forefront. both are heavy in exploration. They best way for me to describe it is, do you wish the combat in Minecraft was a little more refined, and do you want combat that feels more "right" than if you were to download a Minecraft mod to try and get wands or tech or etc etc. this game is then perfect. the combat for me has ALWAYS been my favorite thing about this game. theres still plenty of exploration and building and sandbox stuff to change things up, and even then your never really "forced" to participate in that (though getting all the NPC's and keeping them happy is always a plus and makes life easier throughout the game). Its a very well designed game, doesnt take up any space, and you can replay different worlds and characters to try out the different "classes" for a good few hundred hours. You can also mod this game as it has official (at least its advertised) modding support, though i have very limited knowledge on it, i've seen some videos with tons of new items, enemies, and boss's, which does make me want to try it once I get tired of killing the final boss (and secret boss's) with every class another 5 times. This game is always on sale but i would 100% buy it at full price if your friends are waiting on you to grab it.

old game but good, worth it for everyone at $5 or less, more likely $10 at least
