Fun fact: The reason for their name: They really loved the Legend of Zelda franchise, and their favorite color is yellow, and Link does look really cool when he is wearing yellow armor.

They eventually grew up a bit and decided they wanted a name that doesn't affiliate themselves with another company or franchise, so they added a 'G' and found a cool picture. They could have gone for a completely different name, but they didn't want to confuse people and Linking-Yellow sounds really cool.

3: I can help a little. I'm too busy to pump out maps the way I use to, but I can always offer suggestions, answer questions, and write simple vscripts to make your jobs easier. As for making full maps for your mod, that's very unlikely.
I recomend against trying to make a mod at the moment. If you and someone else can map well, make custome maps for the workshop. Experience from smaller scoped projects should help you in the long run if you want to try making a mod in the future.

Might I ask two questions? One: What does UGC stand for? And Two: Why don't you upload your videos to Steam? (EXTRA BONUS QUESTION): Could you help make maps for a mod I am making? I am not the best at hammer, and I have watched most of your hammer videos for help. I do need more map creators, though since only me and someone else are making maps for the mod.

Depends on how much time I have. If I have a completely free week, which is rare now, I can usually do it in that week. If I have 2 free weeks, and I am going all out with a team, it can take those 2 weeks.

I just used entity logic. A friend of mine put it into a mod for the pti, and put it on TWP as "Bluemod". If you want to try disecting it, have a look there. That was for my first hammer map, so I recommend recreating it to make it fit higher standerds as appose to just coppying it. If you just want me to tell you what I did, I added a func_brush, a logic_measure_movement, a gel spreyer(better if you do 2, so you can make the gel streams look different.), and a game_ui. I set the logic_measure_movement to track the players eye direction, and set that same direction to the func_brush. I set the func_brush to not be solid, becasue the Logic_measure_movement puts it inside the player, which would otherwise keep the player from moving....

... I then parented the gel_spreyer to the func_brush, so it would follow the players movement and eyesight without being inside the player, blocking the sprey. I set the speed of the sprey to be very high, giving the gun a far range, and a ton of acuracy, and set the spread to be very low, which increased the precition. I then used the game_ui to activate the blue gel fire on when attack_button1 was pressed, and dissable it on unpressed. I did the same thing for mousebutton2 and the orange gel. Assuming you know how to use hammer, it shouldn't be hard. As I said, I made this in my first hammer map, so it's not very complicated. If you don't know how to use hammer, just use the bluemod on thinkingwithportals. Also, I made this before Aperture Tag was a thing, so don't let people tell you that you coppied it from that mod, lol.

Well all of those who locally tested it for me locally didn't seem to run into this problem but that may have just been luck. Therefore I will probably try and do something else to the level to make it more clear, but I may not get to it for a bit cause I'm trying to milk the rest of the summer as much as I can. :D Regardless, when I finish I will message you if you and your crew want to put it in another video.

Trying to find out where to go is not what makes a puzzle engaging. I recomend highlighting the area the player has to go in some way. Lights are a great way to do this, but since you are using hammer, you might be able to get mroe creative. If you have to point the player where to go outside of the game it'self, then you probably havn't communicated the objective to the player well enough through the game, which is poor level design. Honestly, it was hard for me to follow what was going on because we are still trying to get a screenshare option that works, so pomeran may have just missed something obvious, so let us know if you really think it was that obvious, but if you want to change the level and make it convey the objective more clearly, let us know, and I'll try to get it in another episode.

Hey you recently did a video that included a playthrough of a Portal2 level I made and I wanted to give a hint in case you wish to try again. You should see other areas that you can access if you look around a bit. Namely in the room you were stuck in. You can find it via flying like a blimp. Try flying out of the portalboard facing straight up. It's the one next to the goo on the other side of the grate. Look around while you're in the air. I haven't seen this problem before so I was a bit suprised to see you get stumped there... Nothing against you though! Thanks again for testing my map! Yeah and the laser room's lightning needs help...

I really appreciate your work guys on making a bunch of new stuff for a game, such as scripts, scetches, music pieces, new objects but most importantly on my opinion, a brand new storyline connecting everyone with everything!
My tip: you could as well work on a new Half Life episode or mod, people seem to love you a really lot, when I firstly saw your group about this seeking for help on a guide Halo made (thanks a lot for driving me here!), I was really surprised there is a group for it, I also attend Harry101UK's vids on YouTube and I admire everyone's work in the "Portal 3" group, despite from the fact that everyone is doing a big or small part of their work.

...I also am interested in replacing one of the mechanics with the really neat one I am almost finished with. (Replacing the tracking mechanic with Linking-Yellow Gel, which likely only has days left of developement.)(I'm assuming that your referring to the Portal: Revolution(Portal 3) Mod) Maybe now with the new year, we can try to get more people involved. The mod has been woken up from near death quite a few times, and I'm sure it's still got some life left, as there are many good ideas going for it.

Nope, We don't have a clear set of expectations for mappers yet. I was working on some, but the leadership of the mod team started desolving at the end of the summer. And I got pretty busy with other stuff. I've been hoping that I would have the opertunity to finish the custom mechanics before the mod got back on it's feet. The mechanics are still not finished, however I have made some really neat advancements. If I can get some help with the new mechanics, I can sooner focus on getting the mapping assignments ready...
