i played this pre release and now after its release it was alot easier before the release i dont read the forums or other site for info on the game i will tell you what i think from what i have seen and played.
NA is a tough game and it is ment to be from the way everything has been done it eves in the water (with out the years waiting to fly a titan) instead of space diplomacy is the same expect instead of it systems and space its ports and resources and its about each nation rather than 1 corp joining a random group helping for control of systems
if you are new do the tutorial completing it all will have you in 5th rates straight away altho i suggest getting better in smaller ships first the tutorial will also give you alot of consumables to get you through awhile and a expensive ship upgrade you can hold onto or sell for good money to get you more ships or whatever you want
there is no really balance with nations because there shouldnt be if a nation has more numbers and is stronger in general and better then its your fault for getting ur ass kicked same as in eve numbers can mean alot but experience means alot more and practice makes perfect.
this game is casual friendly if you like trading abit or get in a clan that will help you out when your on and help you level with a few missions or some thing a night how ever it is very grindy now to get the secondary currency dubs expectionaly if you wanna have building and then upgrade them but alot of the time if you a trader you can buy them off others.
dlc ships from what i have seem are fairly fine other than the redoutable over power 3rd rate that can end up better than most 1st rates and cost more than the game for me in aus and because it is so powerful and you can print one every day its pre much a must have or you're at a disadvantage which is stupid and honestly it needs to change or all other ships need a big ass buff
in big battle communication is key and stratagy is key or its like shooting fish in a barrel

however i enjoy the game and altho its seems the devs have now gotten abit lazy and need to pull there finger out of there ass i still recommend this game for the fact altho it can be stressful annoying and a pain in the ass it is fun and even better when you join a good clan and enjoy messing around and having a laugh while doing whatever your doing
