Garma Zabi's Funeral Speech by Gihren Zabi (Oct. 6, 0079):
"We have lost a hero to our glorious cause, but does this foreshadow our defeat? No. It is a new beginning. Compared to the Earth Federation, the national resources of Zeon are less than 1/30 of theirs. Despite this, how is it that we have been able to fight the fight for so long? It is because our goal in this war is a righteous one. It’s been over 50 years since the elite of Earth, consumed by greed, took control of the Earth Federation. We want our freedom! Never forget the times when the Federation has trampled us! We, the Principality of Zeon, have had a hard struggle to achieve freedom for all citizens of our great nation. My beloved brother, Garma Zabi, was sacrificed. Why?
"The war is at a stalemate. Perhaps many of you have become complacent. Such a lack of compassion is...
"The Earth Federation has polluted our planet for their own greed. We must send them a message, but not composed of words. We have wasted too much time with words. We need action now. The earthside elite must be taught a strong lesson for their corruption. This is only the beginning of our war. We have been putting more and more money into our efforts towards making our military stronger. The Earth Federation has done the same.

Gundam 35th Anniversary Announcements (updated)

1. A new trailer for Gundam Unicorn episode 7. The theme song is "StarRingChild" by Aimer (produced by Hiroyuki Sawano). The official site was updated with new mecha designs, including a second Ecoas Jegan[www.gundam-unicorn.net], the EWAC Jegan[www.gundam-unicorn.net], and Sleeves versions of the Gelgoog and Regelg[www.gundam-unicorn.net].

2. Announcement and trailer for Gundam Reconguista in G, a new series directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino (creator of Gundam) and with character designs by Kenichi Yoshida (Overman King Gainer, Eureka Seven). The mechanical designs are by Akira "Akiman" Yasuda (Code Geass), Ippei Gyobu (Sacred Seven), and Kimitoshi Yamane (Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, The 08th MS Team). The music is by Yugo Kanno (Psycho-Pass). It takes place in a timeline "after" the Universal Century, but it is unknown how or if it relates to Turn A Gundam. The main character works for an organization that protects a space elevator. Tomino hopes that it will be "something that could be shown to our children, to your children" and that it will be enjoyed by "future fans of Gundam," Here's the official site[www.g-reco.net]. It comes out in the fall.

3. Annoucement and trailer for the anime of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin. It will only adapt the Char & Sayla section of the manga (for now?), which takes place prior to the main story. The trailer shows Zeon Deikun's murder at the hands of the Zabis in U.C. 0068. Here's the official site[www.gundam-the-origin.net]. It will be a four-part series starting next spring, and will be shown in theaters. The first episode is called Blue-Eyed Casval.

4. A theme song of the anniversary called G35 by Yasutaka Nakata of Capsule.

5. A "next phase of Real G" (the lifesize Gundam in Japan). Details were not given but it sounds like they could be implementing more motion than just its head. This may not be ready until the 40th anniversary in 2019. More details will come next month.

6. An "Art of Gundam" exhibit in Tokyo in 2014 and Osaka in 2015.

UPDATE: The entire presentation, with English voiceover, can be watched on YouTube. Yoshiyuki Tomino's speech has been translated as well (it was not translated in the live broadcast). He makes it clear that it is supposed to be written Reconguista and not Reconquista.

Of this, I can assure you. You have been forewarned!

Day after day, their memory has never left me: the memory of so many men and women lost to the fires of the battle for spacenoid independence, and the young people who fling themselves again to those flames. In response to the spacenoid's desire for freedom, the Federation continues to buid up it's crushing military might, and to pluck it out as it buds. I know this is true because I've seen the proof. Observe the results of our battle: It is obvious this gundam was developed for the sole purpose of a nuclear attack! This machine is a clear violation of the Antarctic Treaty, and having been developed in secret, is apparent evidence of the accursed Federation's evil intentions!

Look back! What gave rise to the Zeon war of Independence? Why did we become followers of Zeon Zum Deikun? For three long years we have all waited. We stand united, and not one person in our force will ever turn away from their duty! Now, with the blood of the young burning within us I declare war upon the Earth Federation government! We shall ignore the whispers of what is known as a false peace! We shall repeat now, and forevermore what we hear in our hearts! To restore the glory of our homeland! Sieg Zeon!"
