Since I disappointed people with that last announcement, let's have a pug!

Read, download and set it up fools. From now on we'll be using Mumble, not in-game chat, for pugs. Exceptions may be made if Mumble crashes your computer (I know it does one of mine) but do yourself a favor and get this set up.

Feel free to idle around in and just chat it up with your fellow UC Puggers when there isn't a pug going on. Chillin' ain't a crime.

I noticed last night that a lot of the players that came to the pug weren't very familiar with how to communicate efficiently and how the overall flow of battle works. I figure now is a good a time as any to bring some attention to the veteran professional player Jaeger: http://www.mikemarcin.com/

Links to his website have been fluttering around the competitive community of late and for good reason. With Valve pushing for the competitive scene there has been a sizable influx of newer players and Jaeger is attempting to bridge the gap between the new and the old. How? By uploading his own POV and spectator demos from matches with his team along with an .mp3 of the voice coms that you can synch up and get a better idea as to how the pros do it.

That being said, I HIGHLY recommend that you take the 45-55 minutes it takes to watch the match even if you've been in the know for a while. You can always learn a few tricks you didn't know. ;)

If you're having trouble synching the demo to the mp3, try binding pause and play for the media player of your choice to a hotkey. Demos tend to stutter on some machines and it leads to the mp3s being a bit farther along than the demo. That's easily solved by pausing the mp3 for a second and then hitting play again. If the in-game sounds are too loud, try turning the game volume down in the Options menu (1/4 of the way up is generally low enough) and turn up your speakers a tad.
