STEAM FOR LINUX BETA: APPLICATION ACCEPTED

I got an invite to the closed beta. I'm gonna try testing not only the client but the available games on as many distros and DEs that I can. I'll obviously start with my main build -- Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x64 + GNOME 3.x but I'll test with Unity, KDE, XFCE, and LXDE once I get it all set up.

I probably won't try it out on Arch or Fedora but if I get the chance then I might. That's up in the air as of now.

Anyone else get invites recently?

VALVE LINUX BLOG POST #4 -- The Great Winter Migration!

Valve's Linux developers have been talking about how well the closed beta period of the cycle is going. So far so good seems to be the general status as of late.

In the post, they talk about ramping up the efforts soon and sending out more beta invites to more accounts. Those who attended Canonical's Ubuntu Developer Summit this year will likely get theirs first, but more people over a better period of time will be invited as well. Soon enough, we'll have ourselves an open beta and then a full stress test before it goes to stable status and launches.

I can't wait.
