Dungeon crawling one step at a time.

A group for the fans of grid-based first person RPGs (or "gridders" for short if you like). This includes old classics like Dungeon Master, Wizardry, Might and Magic and Eye of the Beholder, new classics such as Legend of Grimrock, and Japanese games such as Etrian Odyssey.

Gridders can be turn-based or real-time, sandboxes or linear, party-based or single character, puzzle-heavy or all about battles. What's in common with all of them is the first person perspective and movement in one step at a time, straight lines and 90 degree turns. Originally this was done because computer hardware wasn't able to handle free movement in first person. It turns out some of us still like to hopscotch like it's 1991.

The purpose of this group is to share knowledge and enthusiasm for this genre, promote and support these games and their developers, keep tabs on news, have an active curation, and maintain a database of information for both new and old fans alike.

As for upcoming titles and gridders on other systems besides PC, visit our forums. Hey hey, look at this. It's a new Wizardry game and it's free.

I haven't had time to try it out yet but from what I've heard:
- It's as hardcore as you'd expect from a Wizardry game
- There's more story to it than Wizardry: Labyrinth Of Lost Souls
- There's a mobile version too
- It has an ending and can be beaten without paying anything

(note: I see in the reviews there are a few complaints about the anti-cheat software that comes bundled with it)
