Took me about a month to figure out how to get a proper secure boot working on Linux, processs could differ between distro's and motherboards (settings), particularly UEFI setting - but if you do research, there are usually straight to the point tutorials.

@quinraylo Just make sure your main drive with windows on it is formatted using GPT, and not MBR before disabling secure boot in bios, or you won't be able to boot back into windows

Hi @quinraylo, the actual installation is very easy but unfortunately microsoft has made it as hard as possible by forcing things like "secure boot" into the BIOS which complicates things. This guide is very good in my opinion https://www.wikihow.com/Install-Linux so I would suggest using that.

Yeah I totally agree with Junnroh, I use Mint and have been gaming on it without issue. Mint just works. Ubuntu and Pop are both reasonable alternatives.

Ubuntu or Mint if your gonna dual boot. Pop OS is an option as it has Nvidia drivers baked in, but its not so simple to dual boot since it doesn't use Grub bootlloader.

I'd highly recommend Mint or Ubuntu.

On Arch Linux, after fully dropping Windows due to disliking Windows 11 and the constant feeling of sluggishness. Aside from that, I truly just love Arch and KDE Plasma on their own and find them way more enjoyable, regardless of my dislike of Windows.

Beyond stoked for Plasma 6 and comfortably gaming on Arch, after installing using archinstall. Met a number of cool people from this community and appreciate how supportive and friendly people are to new users, definitely to my shock, after hearing such harsh things about the Linux community in the past. Imo, the harshness is super overblown.

I'm really enjoying gaming on Linux with both Arch (xero Linux) and Debian12.
Dropping support for windows 7 was the last push I needed to get rid of closed source OS.
Nobara is cool too for those looking at Fedora pakages managers.

I might try Gentoo and Artix later since my experience level increased with the terminal.
