Garry's use of LUA in the basically most insane way possible is most likely the primary reason why the original planned Episodic model of releasing sequels in chunks to HL2 never really manifested.

Gary's raw LUA injection essentially compromised Steam itself, as well as likely all of Valve's internal networks.

They had to drop everything and completely reinvent the source engine as well as the whole way that Steam sends and encodes games in a new kind of file encryption format.

The original GMod? Actually JBMOD. You can find it on steam these days. All that Gary did was steal it, around two decades ago now, and basically manage to monetize it first.

Gary erased the FacePunch forums in large part to wipe out all history of all of this occuring.

Many of the oldest RPers are these days... literally on the run for their very lives.

I wish I was making this up.

I can also tell you people here that you need to stop using GMOD. You need to stop using WINDOWS.

I did 3 contract jobs for MSFT last decade. At the interview for the 3rd, the interviewer spiked my water with ... what I had thought for a long time was LSD. I recently learned it was actually LXD. Literally that is all I know, that the X is for eXperimental. ♥♥♥♥ IS BAD NEWS.

Basically causes a perfect kind of horror-panic attack. I left the interview and wandered a block or two to a bar and just drank about 8 gallons of water. Literally no effect. Basically all other psychoactive drugs of them time.... throwing more water into you SHOULD increase the rate at which the body metabolizes it. Again... no effect.

I am not dead yet. And I am the one who wrote nearly all of the actually USEFUL code that all the idiot HL2RPers of today are using decade plus even more ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up versions of.

I had to fix up Rick Dark's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ original UI code.

I ... I came up with an unbelievable number of concepts and code snippets, many of which where actually um stolen or -used without credit or attribution- by ... I cannot mention details here.

I... I actually still feel bad that one time another person showed me an exploit and I managed to pivot off it while in some kind of old TnB server... and I was able to make myself Zara Kane.

I was a stupid idiot child back then.

I hope that Zara Kane is alive and well. I will NOT dead name them. I did not understand what was happening back then. I barely do now.
