I need to play Portal 2 tests more, recently got a ton of games for my custom-built gaming PC so haven't been playing much

Also, I will try to play more. I spend all my energy building so I don't have much left to test.

Understood. It's been a real evolutionary process for me in this realm. The feedback is what motivates most of us me thinks. I tried my own group if have not seen and it is doing the same thing as p2lc. There are only a few people left participating. Speaking for myself, the addictive nature of this game creates a roller-coaster of fun to burn outs. I have decided to scale back my maps to smaller and simpler challenges. Otherwise i may find myself spending 50 hours a week on difficult maps that many don't appreciate.

@SloppySteve I think the original idea for the group was to moderate the front page, but I talked to Fortnight about shifting the focus to help level designers gain experience through examples and practice. Along with that comes with the etiquette of criticism when playing others' levels so that the knowledge spreads and the community becomes more self-aware. Group activities would/should include discussions, challenges, and contests (similar to P2LC), but it seems that there just hasn't been a lot of participation or leadership.

What is the point of this group if there is nothing happening here?

What does everyone mean that youve given up on the workshop?

Sup, I've stopped making maps, but I still like to play and comment on workshop stuff.

About super mario maker quality control: Before you can upload your map you need to finish it yourself and you have a limit of 10 maps at the beginning. Upvotes are stars in that game and enough stars give you a medal which is used to be able to upload more maps.

How little you know. It's best to just ignore the front page. Then you won't feel so discouraged. If you know deep down your map deserves more attention, you did good for someone. I try to help spread the word of better maps.

Kinda sad that my frontpagefodder super easy map which primarily focusses on visuals gets like 1600 upvotes while my big batcature 1-month maps get like 400.

I think I'll just take a break from mapping, I'm really angry with the frontpage right now. Portal 2 is slowly dying, I hope to start working on my own game soon.

@wildgoosespeeder according to a few people, valve doesn't care about the worksho panymore and let's broken programs be downloaded on people's computers. Now you need to get users to fix the broken hammer uploader, they don't care :/

What's sad is that users have to police the Portal 2 Workshop and not Valve. If Valve put in some sort of restrictions and a better rating system that encourages good maps to get recognition rather than encourage being popular, there wouldn't be floods of crap forcing good maps to be practically non-existant. I think Super Mario Maker does this but not sure because I don't have the game.

Adminship is not (neccesarily) about making better maps than other members, its about contribution to this group. Just wanted to make this clear.

Currently we only have 11 people and only one of them is a completely new face. Once this group starts chugging along a bit more that woud be a fun thing to impliment along with things like mapping and solving contests but right now it just wont work.
