My good steam friend ~Floating Fish~ -=[DU]=- recently joined the group and
have some very good question also to ask about his map and hoping fix some
of his challenge with Hammer editor. He will post a message here on the forum
about it in the coming days.

Beginning straight forward with my first question about HL2DM LEVEL DESIGN
is starting with directory file structure about custom textures. I didn't play
around with my Hammer for more then 2 years I think and main reason for this
was mainly I coudn't get back on track with one project map I've started years
ago with plenty of custom texturesI made but have no clue where to place them
(folder name structure.. ). So I'm loading my map and all the custom textures
are missing because dunno where to put them.

AC1: I have to look back in my saved messages from dm_valve forum back in the
time your guys posted messages about that. I know that you and AlcyToronto
and GTA MIKE has no problem at all about that. I would like if you guys can
post a short and very comprehensive message to clear up and make QMD to come
out of hibernation since I'm «stuck» to that problem for way too long ;(

Hi Everyone,

I've created this HL2DM LEVEL DESIGN forum 3 years ago and one of the main goal
was to give support to friends with their mapping project. The forum is still there,
but of course, there is "life" (real one) that's taking place in all of this and
specially having a job. If we get back in the day of dm_stripclub and other
participating project, I didn't have a job actually at this time and have a way
much free time for mapping. Things go up and down about that but one thing
still and will always remain for me: I'm so passionate of creating virtual
environment in HL2DM with Hammer Editor. I need to go back in my Hammer like
the good old days. For sure folks in here can help me on that.

I've put several members as a Forum Moderator just few minutes ago. Afaik, they
are good people to answer many aspect of HL2DM Level Design. Go for it folks !

HI! I'm preparing a few maps with game mechanics for examples for my Adv. Game Design class starting next week. I'm making them use HL2:DM, will need to come up with unique mechanics. On my newest map, dm_drumroll, there is a giant drum-like shape rotating on it's side. Players run around and inside playind DM. The rolling will lag and stick, but, moving the player advances the rolling motion. That's ok.

I also have falling oil drums that are supposed to explode when they fall on the rotating deum. Off-line on my computer they work (like being bombarded in a war). But, on the server, they mostly just hit and roll off, unexploded.

Do you know what settings I can adjust to make them explode with the slightest impact to guarantee they explode? I had to stagger the height locations they fall from so on start-up, they din't all hiut at the same time (causes (Cullist oferfluw error).

Any ideas? (8.2.122.122:27015 - 4 maps, change every 10 minutes )

Found very interesting what Level Designer Filip Coulianos made about overviews of HL2DM levels (path view). Have you sketch your path already? ;)

[SS]Asst. Oh:be Yah hehe there is always something new to learn in mapping. So much stuff and specially some very useful command to use in the consol of HL2DM. I was looking for a command that reports all entity I/O used and it's drawn in the 3D world at the location of the entities in question. Enable the cheats then type: ENT_MESSAGES_DRAW 1
(reference: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Inputs_and_Outputs ).
That's very useful for Debugging all those logic_case, logic_timer, func_door, func_buttons and see if all your planned connections are doing what they're supposed to do ;)

I think thats when theres an update looming or a cloud issue. Had it a few times just with normal game play/ A proper PITA.

Hi T4LLY-0, I just created this group 2 days ago and it's to have a group of people that share the same passion, Level Design in HL2DM, so if ever somebody wants help or start a projects, maps, with multiple mappers or anything that is related to HL2DM Level Design, this could be useful to know guys doing and sharing the same passion.
