I made this because I couldn't find any other group for us. Only people chosen to receive beta steam machines are to be members here.

The purpose of this group is to provide a central location within the steam universe to share experiences and ideas with the steam beta machines.

Thanks to you, our Steam Hardware beta testers, we identified and fixed hundreds of bugs, and improved our designs based on the data and feedback generated by all of your playtesting. Your effort has been invaluable to us, and we hope you’ll continue to wear that community badge with pride.

After eighteen months, our Steam Hardware beta is now officially ended. While we are no longer able to support hardware issues with our prototype devices, we want to let you know that we are now offering a limited number of Steam Hardware units for early delivery, before our official launch. You can visit the Steam Store for more information.

One last thing: Until you can hold the controller in your hands and experience it for yourself, we hope you’ll have a look at our new controller demo video for more detail about everything the Steam Controller can do.

There is science to be done

Happy new year everybody, by now most of us should be starting to settle down back into some form of a normal routine, and will likely get to start using our steam machines in a more normal capacity. Some of us won't be able to use them as much as we have in the past couple weeks, and good luck playing all the games you picked up during the holiday sale.

It seems that we keep submitting issues and Valve has been working through those issues, weather they are just feedback to be taken bugs to be fixed, or features to be implemented. It seems like progress is being made (for the people who are still alive.)

I just wanted to remind everybody that we are beta testing many things here and i'm sure valve would rather have more info than less. So regardless of how you are using your steam machine, if you have a feature request or bug or just plain old feedback on any of these items, please submit it to the bug tracker - let's make this thing awesome for everyone!

Big Picture Mode (Regardless of OS)
Steam Controller

I'm reviving mine with new hardware. I've redesigned some of the internal shrouds, but I was wondering whether Valve had shared the model files for them? It would save me countless hours of work.

I hope that Steam OS 3 comes out soon as an ISO so we can use it on the Steam machines, I put Pop OS on it a while ago but I kinda want to go back to Steam OS again.

Speaking of the deck, did any of you peeps get one? How about the Index? I love seeing how refined some of the technology we helped beta test has now become.

My Steam Machine is still going strong, about to update windows 7 to windows 10. Hold my steam controller!

Mine is still working. I did add an SSD, dualbooted windows 10, and use the OG 1TB Hybrid as storage. My desktop is an i9-9900K with 64GB, a 2080TI, Liquid Cooling, and 20TB of storage, so the steam machine feels underpowered at this point; but it has aged rather well. I'm tempted to put a 4th gen i7 into it as an upgrades. As far as the GPU, I wonder if there is any way to upgrade it. If anyone else has done it let me know! Its had a place under my 55" 120hz 4K TV in the living room for quite sometime now. I love the steam controller, I also use a Roccat Sova lapboard for keyboard and mouse on the couch. I still have the original crate, I often take this machine and place it on top of the crate. I even took it to Intel Lanfest in Colorado a few times. I had a little Gabe Newell shrine joke. It had a little glowing fountain, a picture of Gabe, ram sticks, and a de-lidded hard drive. Got lots of laughs, hugs, and comments every LAN I took the steam machine and Shrine to.
