Could have had a persona 6 instead

You like Persona series? You played Persona 3/4/5, enjoyed them and wish there was more? I am like you and this game makes me HOPE that I won't hate P4R or P6 when they come out. It's bad, it's boring, the plot is a mess, the characters are mostly boring and/or one-dimensional (with some actually nice exceptions), the dungeons are tedious, sometimes so much you'd want to bang your head on the wall (especially talking about the third main story palace here), the shops and price tags are very "in your face", the UIs are ugly and the (mostly) recycled soundtrack, SFXs and locations from P5 really start to make me sick and want to play a new, *fresh* Persona game. Although they buffed some characters during their global release, now they're adding Akechi as a unit and he's just a "come on give us nothing" girl, but they probably know people will pull anyway cause he's one of the most popular characters in the fandom. Too much to say about the wrongs of this game but many people already said it in the other reviews here. What a mess.

I wanna love this game i just cant, and it hurts a lot because i love everything Persona but this game just isnt it the storys are great also characters and combat, but other than that i just cant get myself to like it sadly :(

This must be the gacha game i played the most and i will play even more, i just love Persona, so this gacha game is special compared with the others i´ve played so far, i dont put any money in the game since the global release and i am having such a good time, the only character i couldn´t get was -Seaside Tomoko-, it´s a good game and the fact that it runs in my notebook make´s it even more special.

Having played the Taiwanese version a few months before it's global release, and not thinking much of it, as it stands, currently, P5X is a tedious, sloppy, convoluted and incomprehensible take on the Persona series. Advertising this as the "new persona game" and "the mobile persona experience" is an insult to the quality of the other games. With a messy UI, complicated wordvomit in its descriptions and an extremely annoying gameplay loop, I cannot, in good faith, recommend you spend your valuable time on this game.

Palaces feel bloated in size compared to their appearances in Royal, padding out playtime to gain resources you're going to want, lest you miss out on the new unit. Movement feels clunky, battles are slow and so mechanically uninteresting to a point where its desirable to put your game on auto for the majority of its runtime. Having an arrow point you to the solutions of a puzzle and the direction you should be heading at all times makes me feel like they failed to understand what made people love palaces in the first place.

There's something to be said about the direction the story is heading, It's widely claimed that you'll have a better time from palace 3 onward, but that still means you have to get through 2 palaces of nothing-burgers with a good moment sprinkled here and there. It couldn't be less memorable if they tried, save for the great meme that the Subway Slammer became.

Regardless of all that, I think this game's soundtrack still has some merit, carrying over what made Persona 5's so great and expanding on that foundation, but my positives end there.

I'm disappointed ATLUS decided to dip their toes into a genre this predatory, designed to take as much of your money and time as possible. Regardless of how good its narrative becomes, this is not the medium it should be told through.

Save yourself the headache, go play something else, it's not worth it

If you're into the franchise but not on the reddit you'll likely like it at first. But sooner or later you'll begin to see how badly the monetization is. It's not like some games where you need to spend for dupes instead you need to spend to even get a character sometimes, and when you don't need to spend your pity probably transferred over from someone you missed on a previous banner. people on the reddit vehemently hate the game. For that and others say its far more predatory on the Global version than the CN version. I've played for a while consistently, (as my hours show, and that doesnt count hours on the mobile version) and their monetization is beginning to make me want to quit. on one side you have have someone say "skip a banner" but they constant try to make all content tailored to NEEDING to have that banner character. In most gacha games I've played (at least the good ones (horizon walker, Snowbreak, GFL2)) they allow you to get enough to acquire the banner character at least once and sometimes their exclusive weapon and then you can spend to easily get dupes. in conjuction with that they dont make you HAVE to have that banner character skipping isnt shooting yourself in the foot for 2 weeks. the gap between whales and moderate spenders (i spend about 100 a month) is insane. some banners i spent like 80 on and still missed by running out of time before it expired. back when i began in august the drop rates felt fair 50% pity felt more honest and you often got the character before pity. Now? Doing the 50% banner is basically pulling from the standard pool the drops are almost always off-banner. so youre forced to do 100% banners and the gems from dailies and events rarely fully get you there sometimes not even halfway. It feels a bit messed up when you hear the people on the reddit constantly try to ward people from the game but even worse when you play and pay.

As for it being my first Persona game that I've played. I believe that there are way more better options than this game with in the series.

I don't have experience with gacha games, so this was a throw off to some of the things being shown to me with in the tutorial and much more further on into to the game with the given elements being micro transactions. I have to stay sticking with the story would be much more nicer than having a whole menu about different things in my screen all leading up to me wanting to purchase something with in the game.
The combat fells fun but way to simple and odd in a way that I'm lead to believe that if I continue with this game, I will eventually run into much more stronger enemy that i will barley have a chance to defeat them, and thus having to go to the store and having to waste my real life money for upgrades to use for my characters (It's a thought of what I'm expecting moving on playing the game).

I've heard a lot of amazing things about Persona, but this game doesn't cut it.
I will go out of my way to try out some of the games in the series.
